We had an AWESOME ride on Sat - once we finally got out of the parking lot, anyway. Rob's sled kept dying and flooding inspite our repeated pulling of the plugs. At one point, Robby wanted to check and see if he had any spark, so he is leaning over the engine and his face is about 5 inches from the airbox so he can see under the hood. so he told me to pull the rope...ooops - huge blue fireball out the airbox into his face. Now he says I tried to kill him! I didn't try to kill him....just burn all the hair off his face! his eyebrows are a bit farther apart and eyelashes 1/2 as long...and part of his moustache is missing...but hey, that's alright! yeah.....anyway, after towing it back onto the trailer, we got it up and running finally, best we can figure is that there was ice in the fuel line.
We had a great ride all day and just couldn't believe no one touched our secret powder meadows. I mean - there were a couple crews from the snowmobiling videos there, and from what we could see, they pretty much stuck to the main ridiing areas along the trail. Some of the BEST riding they totally missed. Which is fine with me. So Robby and I dropped down in some of our play areas and just ripped it up. We were just having a ball carving powder back and forth up and down the hills and meadows. The only tracks in there were our old filled in tracks from last week - and they were WAY under the snow. We had not gone all the way down in secret creek last week, so we hit it this week, and it was unbelieveable. There was a BIG cow moose down there, and the snow was quite a bit higher than her belly. so you know it's deep then! My helmet radio was finally functioning correctly, so I'd do my thing and Rob'd do his thing and then we'd be "where you at?" a couple times I couldn't let off the throttle, so I was one-handing it up a hill, yelling in the mic, "I'm carving up this huge hill over here, I'll come back down in a minute!"
After a while, we finally headed over to the end of the thrid - from the bottom side - and everyone was hitting Robby's favorite "half pipe" jump. He hit it a few times, but I didn't want to just sit and watch him, so I thought I'd play on my powder hill. the boyz sitting at the bottom had really trenched it up, so I didn't really like getting bounced around the trenches a whole lot. Then I saw they hadn't gone up betwee the trees at the top, so I decided I would zip up there a couple of times. The first time I didn't want to get stuck, and I was still trying to keep an eye on Robby, so I turned out right away. The second time I went up 'till I thought I saw a rock, so I turned out, but it felt good, so I was going to go hit it one more time. Not always a good plan....Hey, I got the highmark...it doesn't matter if I ended up jumping a 6 foot trench, landing while pulling a ski out the wrong direction, opting for some "daylight" thru the trees, nailing/jumping off a huge log, flying through the branches (can't see, can't see), landing on a tree, which then flipped me upside down - where my sled stayed - and I flew "over" (? - it was upside down?) the windshield where i landed headfirst in a 6 foot deep tree well -all in about 2.5 seconds. If I could have been about 3 feet over and missed the log, I probably would have been okay. oh well....I'm okay, just bruised my ego and impressed all the guys at the bottom (I'm sure)...but I had the highest mark, so it was worth it....until another dude marked me. :O) I totally could have gone higher, but I was worn out from trying to flip over, dig out and start my upside-down, flooded sled. Rob did come up (he was impressed too) but he totally made me do the mechanic-ing and pull my plugs, etc. I'm just glad he was able to pull the rope a few times for me, cuz I was whipped. Especially after landing head first in the tree well....it's not easy to move around in 6 feet of snow when your head is 6 feet below your feet. sigh.
anyway, we kind of just played our way out after that. :O)
the trail was in bad shape....time for the groomer to knock the tops off the bumps! I was able to just throttle through them and smooth 'em out - but I was getting soooooo tired. I'm either old, fat or out of shape.....SHUT UP - I know, I know, all three! :O) ha ha ha
so, in spite of a face-burning fire ball and an upside down in a tree incident, it was an awesome day of pow! :O)
